Human brain overview for biotech and artificial intelligence development (part 3)
Oxygenation is the process of reacting or treating something with oxygen. To react, in chemistry, means undergo a chemical reaction.
Pulmonary artery is the artery that connects the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs.
A ventricle is any small cavity within a body; a hollow part or organ, especially one of two lower chambers of the heart, and one of four fluid-filled cavities in the brain, that are continuous with the central canal of the spinal cord also known as cerebroventricle or cerebral ventricle.
A central canal is a minute canal running through the gray matter of the whole length of the spinal cord and continuous anteriorly with the ventricles of the brain.
A spinal cord is a thick, whitish cord of nerve tissue which is a major part of the vertebrate central nervous system. It extends from the brain stem down through the spine, with nerves branching off to various parts of the body.
A vertebrate is an animal having a backbone.
A central nervous system, in vertebrates, is the part of the nervous system comprising the brain, brainstem and spinal cord. Also known as CNS, cerebrospinal axis, and systema nervosum centrale.
A nervous system is an organ system that coordinates the activities of muscles, monitors organs, constructs and processes data received from the senses and initiates actions. Also known as systema nervosum.
A vein is a blood vessel that transports blood from the capillaries back to the heart.
A capillary is a narrow tube, or any of the small blood vessels (from 5 to 10 micrometres/micrometers (μm) in diameter) that connect arteries to veins (They are the smallest blood vessels in the body: they convey blood between the arterioles and venules).
An arteriole is one of the small branches of an artery, especially one that connects with capillaries.
A venule is a small vein, especially one that connects capillaries to a larger vein.
Blood plasma is the clear fluid portion of blood in which the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are suspended; forms serum upon clotting.
A white blood cell is a type of blood cell that is involved with an immune response, or part of the immune system.
A lymphocyte is any of several types of white blood cell with a spherical nucleus occurring in the lymphatic system, including B cells, T cells and natural killer cells. A lymphocyte is an agranulocytic leukocyte that normally makes up a quarter of the white blood cell count but increases in the presence of infection; agranulocytic means relating to agranulocytes; an agranulocyte, in biochemistry, is any of several kinds of white blood cell characterized by the absence of granules in the cytoplasm; a granule is a tiny grain or in biology, a small structure in a cell; cytoplasm is the protoplasm of a cell excluding the nucleus, that is full of proteins that control cell metabolism; protoplasm is the entire contents of a cell comprising the nucleus and the cytoplasm, that is a semi-fluid, transparent substance which is the living matter of plant and animal cells. A leukocyte is any of a class of blood cells that engulf and digest bacteria and fungi, an important part of the body’s defense system.
A B cell is a lymphocyte, developed in the bursa of birds and the bone marrow of other animals, that produces antibodies and is co-responsible for the immune system.
A T cell is a lymphocyte, from the thymus, that can recognize specific antigens and can activate or deactivate other immune cells.
A thymus is a ductless gland, consisting mainly of lymphatic tissue, located behind the top of the breastbone. It is most active during puberty, after which it shrinks in size. It plays an important role in the development of the immune system and produces lymphocytes. The human body part manufacturing biotechnology must be able to manufacture lymphocytes and entire thymi.
