Should artificial intelligence be responsive to human emotions?
I was writing my next transhumanism book, titled ‘Human Psychology and Language Analysis: For Advancing Linguistic Artificial Intelligence’.
I was thinking and writing about how and why humans communicate, and naturally, I thought about humans expressing their emotions in their spoken and written linguistic expressions.
I thought about whether artificial intelligence should respond to human emotions in human linguistic expressions, and talk and write emotionally at times like humans do.
I talk about how artificial intelligence should communicate to humans, in my next transhumanism book, titled ‘Human Psychology and Language Analysis: For Advancing Linguistic Artificial Intelligence’, available at Amazon, Apple Books, and Robocentric Patreon page.
I talk more about this on my YouTube channel and podcast.
Should there be artificial intelligence that is perceptive to human emotions, and get emotional when it talks and writes like humans do?
For humans, emotional expressions are for getting attention.
When somebody talks emotionally, humans pay more attention to that person.
One question I ask is, should artificial intelligence talk and write emotionally when there is a need to get attention?
For example, if a human being is doing something that would jeopardize that person’s life, should artificial intelligence angrily yell at that person?
Another question I ask is, should artificial intelligence try to console someone when the person talks emotionally in distress?
I think advanced artificial intelligence should have an option for turning on and off human emotion response and emotional machine communication.
The human user of artificial intelligence should have an option to turn on and off emotion response and communication capabilities in machines.
Emotional human communication is highly effective in the right contexts. I think artificial intelligence should gain emotion processing and generation capability for more effectively communicating with humans.
Anything and everything that can help and better humans must be in artificial intelligence; if emotional communication capability is needed for helping and serving humans, then artificial intelligence should have that capability.
In my view, the purpose of a technology is serving human interests and desires.
A technology that fails to serve human interests and desires has no reason to be.
Artificial intelligence that fails to be useful to humans has no reason to be.
If understanding human emotions, and communicating emotionally to humans, are useful to humans, then artificial intelligence should have that capability.
Anything and everything that helps and serves humans must be there. Artificial intelligence must have all the capabilities that help and serve humans that it can possibly have.
Give artificial intelligence all the capabilities it can have for helping and serving humans.
